Early Years Curriculum

We warmly welcome you to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at The Mulberry Primary School. In our busy and thriving Foundation Stage we strive to ensure that every child begins their school life in a happy, secure, stimulating and warm environment.

We work hard to meet the individual needs and interests of all our children by adopting an approach to planning which encompasses child initiated and adult led activities. We provide opportunities through play and more structured activities, which encourages children to develop emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically. We promote good standards of behaviour as we know that learning and interactions can only happen once the right climate has been achieved in our classes. Calm, focussed children can learn with greater ease and will make better progress.

We put communication and language at the heart of all our provision and our environment is rich in purposeful interactions between adults and children and between children and their peers. In our setting, every child must become a talker and we deliberately set up opportunities for new language and vocabulary to be learned on a daily basis.

We cannot achieve all of this without the support of parents and carers so we work hard to develop and maintain good partnerships with you. Together, we can give your child the best start to life. We use the Tapestry Online Journal so that we can all share experiences from school and home and so that we can continue to build upon what the child has already learned at home when they start with us in nursery or reception. At the beginning of your time with us, we will set up a parents/carers account for you.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school and supporting your children when they begin their learning journey.
